TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo Police have arrested a man for allegedly threatening Waite High School.
WTOL 11 reports police arrested 19-year-old Christian Costet Monday afternoon for allegedly posting pictures of guns on social media and threatening to shoot up Waite High School.
Police say the threat was brought to their attention by a concerned parent and the decision was made to take Costet into custody. After receiving the report, detectives immediately opened an investigation - working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Toledo Public Schools.
“The Toledo Police Department will not tolerate any threats to the safety of our citizens. There is no such thing as ‘this was just a joke.’ With mass shooting incidents increasing exponentially in our country, we will investigate and prosecute every threat to the full extent of the law” said Toledo Police Chief George Kral. “I commend members of the Toledo Police Department and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force for their hard work in resolving this threat a mere hours after it was brought to our attention.”
Police say there is no other threat to the school. Costet is being charged with inducing panic.
