(Columbus, OH) -- The Ohio arm of the American Civil Liberties Union is suing over a law that prevents abortions based on a Down syndrome diagnosis.
The suit filed Thursday names the state health department, medical board and county prosecutors.
Officials with Planned Parenthood joined the ACLU at a news conference, claiming the 2017 law takes medical decisions away from patients and gives them to lawmakers.
The lawsuit is the latest salvo in Ohio between pro-abortion forces and opponents. There are at least two more abortion-related bills currently under consideration in the Ohio legislature.
