Temporary Layoffs in Store at Jeep Plant

(Toledo, OH)   Hundreds of Toledo Jeep plant workers will be losing their jobs later this year.

Fiat Chrysler officials announced Wednesday more than 850 employees will be temporarily laid off between April and June.  The workers will stay home while the factory is retooled to launch production of the new Jeep Wrangler-based pickup truck.

But there's also a spin-off effect. More than 900 workers at factories that will make parts for the truck are also being laid off during the retooling.

Long-time Jeep partner KUKA also filed a layoff notice with the state, involving a related six-month layoff for nearly 350 of its workers.
