Demand Rising For Foster Families

(Toledo, OH)   A call is going out across Lucas County for more foster families.  Children Services officials say 400 families are needed for over 1,000 kids in the county's custody.

The demand is rising as the opioid epidemic pushes the children of addicted parents into the system.

Toledo's mayor joined the director of the child protective agency in calling for more foster parents after the two met this week.

The number of Ohio children in foster care has spiked by 2,500 in the past four years. There are now more than 15,000 children in the statewide system, with only 7,200 foster homes available.
