(Toledo, OH) A massive overhaul of the Seagate Convention Center is in the early planning stages.
Lucas County commissioners want to move the main entrance of the Seagate Center closer to Fifth Third Field, add windows and build a rooftop ballroom. The price tag is $40 million, with hotel tax revenues covering half of that. State officials will consider an additional request for ten-million-dollars next month.
The idea is to coincide the renovations with a $20 million makeover of the Hotel Seagate by a private developer, so to better attract bigger business conventions to downtown Toledo and improve tourism.
