(Toledo, OH) ProMedica is making a deal to keep Toledo's last abortion clinic open.
ProMedica's board of trustees last night agreed to sign a transfer agreement with Capital Care Network.
The healthcare system agreement calls for ProMedica to provide emergency services in the event of medical problems stemming from an abortion. The deal came just hours after abortion rights activists protested outside ProMedica-Toledo Hospital.
Medical system offiicials say the agreement to provide local emergency services to the abortion clinic fits the company's mission to care for the community.
Capital Care needed the agreement to avoid a court-ordered shutdown.
