Ohio Supreme Court To Hear ECOT Case

(Columbus, OH)  --  A decision on the future of Ohio's largest online charter school is in the hands of the Ohio Supreme Court.

Justices will hear arguments today from the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow, which claims the link between state funding and student participation is unfair.  State regulators claim ECOT failed to sufficiently document student participation to justify its funding-and could owe millions more back to Ohio taxpayers in overpayments.

ECOT was forced to shut down last month amid the repayment of $60 million in overpayments by the state. That closing last month, affecting 12,000 students and 800 employees.
