(Toledo, OH) There may be competition brewing for a medical marijuana dispensary in a West Toledo neighborhood.
A Chicago-based group is requesting approval of a special-use permit to sell medical marijuana out of a West Sylvania Ave. building, just a block from a former animal clinic where a local partnership has already received permission from Toledo City Council.
The Toledo plan commission will hear the case next week from a group with a property purchase agreement contingent on approval of the special-use permit. Both groups still need to get a state license to sell medicinal pot products.
But only one medical marijuana dispensary will be allowed to operate in the neighborhood. According to plan commission documents, if both proposals are approved by city and state regulators, one of the competing dispensaries will be in violation of spacing regulations and get its request revoked.
