Cincinnati Lawyer Jumps Into Ohio Treasurer Race

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Another challenger has entered the field vying to become the next state treasurer.

Cincinnati attorney Rob Richardson filed petitions Tuesday as a Democratic candidate for Ohio Treasurer. He is a former chairman of the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees and unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Cincinnati in 2017.

“I want to thank the thousands of Ohioans who have already supported my campaign for Ohio Treasurer,” said Richardson. “Since launching the campaign last year, I have traveled around the state talking to voters and hearing about the issues that matter most to them. I look forward to addressing these very serious matters in my capacity as Treasurer, including student debt, government transparency, and infrastructure. With the voice of the people behind me, I promise to bring accountability, innovation, and opportunity for all back to Ohio and the Treasurer’s office.”

Richardson joins former Ohio Senate candidate Neil Patel in the Democratic primary for the office. The deadline to file for statewide office is February 7.
