(Toledo, OH) Toledo police are asking the community to help them help one of their own.
The Toledo police department is collecting items for the family of Officer Gregory Smith after their home was gutted by a fire Wednesday morning. Smith, his wife and three young children escaped the blaze without injury.
The fire started in the laundry room of their Waterville home but the actual cause has not been released.
A fund to help the family recover was also set up at the Toledo Police Federal Credit Union.
