"Ice Mountains" Draw Visitors To Port Clinton

(Port Clinton, OH)   The Lake Erie shore is, for now, a winter attraction in Port Clinton.

Visitors are flocking to the city to get a look at giant ice shoves.  The mountains of ice are formed when strong winds blow ice on the lake up against the shore.

Coast Guard officials are advising against climbing the towering mountains of ice, which can suddenly shift without warning. The shoves reach two stories tall in some areas.

The other problem is how long those shoves will last, as northern Ohio moves out of the deep freeze with daytime temperatures rising to the 30's and 40's by this weekend.
