Maumee Stamping Plant to Get Energy Improvements

(Maumee, OH) The Toledo-Lucas County port authority will launch its largest energy efficiency project to date.

The Maumee Assembly and Stamping complex on Illinois Avenue will be the next client to get a retrofit of aging and inefficient equipment as the Better Buildings Northwest Ohio program begins at the former Ford stamping plant.

The program offers financing for projects that focus on conserving energy and generating savings through equipment upgrades to existing facilities.

Starting with $15 million dollars in seed money from the federal Department of Energy in 2010, the program has helped local governments and large businesses cut their energy costs as much as 20 percent, with the savings used to pay back the financing.

Port authority and plant officials will join Maumee's mayor in outlining what will happen at the plant during a press briefing later today.
