(Toledo, OH) There's a renewed proposal to build a Muslim community center in Toledo.
The Toledo Plan Commission next week will consider a zoning change and special-use permit to build a Muslim community center near the Reynolds Corners branch library just off Dorr Street.
A previous proposal was approved in 2016, but never built due to cost concerns. The new proposal includes a 40,000 square-foot building that would include a lecture hall and meeting space for social, educational, and recreational activities. That includes an indoor soccer field in the back of the building.
The Al-Madinah Community Center currently is located in West Toledo, but it's unclear whether the proposed building is a second facility or a replacement building.
