(Toledo, OH) Another Toledo-based medical mission leaves for Puerto Rico today.
Doctors and University of Toledo medical students are flying to the same mountainous region where they've already treated 1,300 patients from the hurricane-ravaged island territory. This will be the third in a series of monthly medical missions for the group until Puerto Rico is stabilized in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
An island church is offering to help set up a triage and treatment center in its basement for this trip.
Logistics manager and chief interpreter Maria Gonzalez is returning to her homeland for the third time-- it's also her sixth overseas medical mission of 2017.
