Colorful Lights Remain Dark on I-280 Bridge

(Toledo, OH) At least one set of lights will remain dark this Christmas.

The colorful lights that light up downtown Toledo's skyline from the Veterans’ Glass City Skyway bridge won't be turned on during the holiday season.

An ODOT contractor has begun work to modernize the lighting on the giant I-280 span crossing the Maumee River, including its central pylon. The pylon's animated lighting display will remain dark until March so crews can replace its light-emitting diodes and upgrade its control system.

The $640,000-plus project also includes replacement of the bridge's roadway lights.
