(Toledo, OH) There could be a zoning battle ahead for a proposed auto salvage yard in Spencer Township.
The Lucas County Plan Commission is being asked to change the zoning of a nine-acre site along Meilke Road near Angola and Crissey roads.
An Archbold business man is proposing to use the front four acres for a towing and vehicle storage operation, and the back five acres for a landscaping business. The site once housed an auto salvage yard, but the zoning reverted back to residential once it closed in 2010.
The operation of those businesses also would require approval of a special-use permit, which is planned for the spring.
Plan commission staff is recommending disapproval of the proposal, because the Spencer Township master plan designates that area for housing developments and land conservation.
