Five Vying for Maumee City Council Vacancy

(Maumee, OH) Five people are seeking appointment to a Maumee City Council vacancy.

The list of official applicants includes two candidates who ran unsuccessfully for a council seat in November-- Democrat Scott Noonan, an organized labor liaison for the United Way of Greater Toledo and technology consultant Lou Thomson.

The others include jewelry store owner Gabriel Barrow, financial analyst William Laranga, lawyer and former Maumee school board member Glenn Rambo.

Current councilman Dan Hazard will be sworn in as Maumee municipal court judge in early January after winning that race. Council will get first crack at the appointment-- and have until early February to make a decision.

If council fails on a consensus pick, Maumee's mayor makes the appointment -- and he's already emphasized he won't be limited by an election outcome.
