Toledo May Sell Vacant, Damaged Building

(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council will get its first look at a proposed land deal today.

The outgoing Hicks-Hudson administration wants to dispose of more city-owned property, this time what's known as the Brim Building in West Toledo. The pricetag is $10,000 for a now-vacant building at the corner of Sylvania Avenue and Drexel Drive.

The building's facade and foundation was damaged during construction of the Toledo Waterways Initiative, and the city acquired the property as part of a claims settlement. But fixing the building and a bad boiler would cost $200,000.

So the mayor wants to sell to a developer willing to make those investments using private funds for commercial and residential space.
