Ohio Health Officials Issue Flu Warning

(Toledo, OH)   Ohio health officials are expressing concerns about a more severe flu season than usual. 

The Ohio Department of Health reports three-dozen people have already been hospitalized with influenza statewide, four of those in Lucas County, signaling an early start to the season.  

Doctors are reminding the public to get their flu shots, despite reports that this year's vaccine may not be as effective. A new study by the New England Journal of Medicine shows this year’s flu vaccine is only 10 percent effective. 

Public health officials remind hand washing is the best defense against the spread of germs to prevent illnesses like the flu.
