(Toledo, OH) Battle of the Badges takes to the ice this weekend to help one of their own.
Toledo police officers and firefighters will play an annual charity hockey game Saturday, but the proceeds are going to help a detective's family as he recovers from a gunshot wound.
Vice-narcotics detective Jason Picking suffered a shattered jaw earlier this month when police tried to serve a search warrant during a drug raid and faces several reconstructive surgeries. Police and firefighters originally pledged the proceeds to the nonprofit Feet on the Street-- but that agency is stepping aside and let the donations go to Picking's expenses instead.
Tickets are $17 apiece for Saturday's 3:30 p.m. faceoff between firefighters and police at the Huntington Center. That ticket also gets the donor into that night's Toledo Walleye game.
