WASHINGTON D.C. - Senator Rob Portman is weighing in on the rampant claims of sexual harassment in government.
Portman is calling for an investigation by the Ethics Committee into the behavior of Senator Al Franken and Congressman John Conyers.
"Harassment of any kind has no place in our society and should not be tolerated. With regard to Congress, I think the American people have every right to expect the highest standards of conduct from their elected leader," Portman says.
In a conference call with Ohio reporters, Portman calls it wrong that taxpayers would be asked to subsidize harassment settlements. The Senator says it's wrong and should stop now. He says new rules need to be put in place, and made a top priority.
