(Toledo, OH) Two brands of the Hilton hotel chain are coming to downtown Toledo.
Lucas County Commissioners announced Tuesday that a Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites will move into the former Hotel Seagate. The $30 million project will feature 200 rooms and a first-floor bar and restaurant.
About 80 percent of those hotel rooms will be extended-stay Homewood Suites, while the rest will be branded as a Hilton Garden Inn.
Lucas County commissioners are using taxpayer dollars to issue bonds and fund the work, to be repaid over a five-year lease Plans call for the hotel to open by the winter of 2019.
A developer approached county commissioners last year during asbestos removal, halting a demolition project.
