Trial Begins in BG for Former Attorney

(Bowling Green, OH) A former Bowling Green attorney goes on trial today, accused of stealing $435.000.

40-year old Robert Searfoss III stands accused of 14 felonies, including corruption, theft, and money laundering. Searfoss is accused of stealing  from a trust fund he was overseeing.

The former attorney rejected a plea deal offered by Wood County prosecutors last month, which would have meant a sentencing recommendation of three years in prison, and paying restitution. Nine of the charges would have been dismissed.

Searfoss surrendered his law license in September as part of an Ohio Supreme Court disciplinary proceeding unrelated to the court case.
