(Toledo, OH) A Toledo police officer is recovering at the hospital this morning, the victim of an overnight shooting in West Toledo.
The veteran male officer is at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, surrounded by colleagues and friends. A police spokesman says the officer is listed in critical but stable condition, but his injuries appear non-life threatening at this time. His name has not been released.
Police have taken a suspect into custody for questioning. Detectives have finished processing evidence at the scene.
The shooting occurred just after 2 a..m. in the 4100 block of Caroline Ave., between Sylvania Ave. and Clara. That neighborhood is located near an industrial section of the city.
Police chief George Kral tweeted that a press conference would be held at 11 this morning.
