(Toledo, OH) Nearly 20 security cameras will be installed along popular pedestrian routes through downtown Toledo.
Toledo City Council voted Tuesday to install the cameras along a two-block stretch of Summit Street, from One SeaGate to ProMedica's headquarters.
The project will cost the city nearly $217,000. The money will come from a law enforcement trust fund, the city capital improvements budget, and proceeds from the sale earlier this year of the Toledo Police Department helicopter.
City officials say they'll work next to install similar cameras in residential neighborhoods.
