City Council To Consider Downtown Security Cameras

(Toledo, OH)   Toledo City Council will vote today on a new security system for downtown.

Plans call for 17 cameras to go up between One Seagate Center and the ProMedica headquarters.

Police say the cameras will help officers monitor pedestrian safety.  The system will cost nearly $217,000.

A police captain told city council last week funding will come from a law enforcement trust fund, the city capital improvements budget, and proceeds from the sale earlier this year of the police helicopter.
