Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz has won the race to become Toledo's mayor, upsetting incumbant Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson after her 3 years in the office.
With nearly all Lucas County precincts reporting, Kapszukiewicz received 55% of the mayoral votes to Hicks-Hudson's 45%. The now Mayor-Elect praised the current Mayor in his acceptance speech, applauding her efforts in taking over the job after the death of D. Michael Collins.
Speaking with WSPD's Scott Sands, Kapszukiewicz says that it's "reassuring and reaffirimg to know that the citizens of Toledo embrace my vision and see the future the same way I do."
Kapszukiewicz will take office in the first week of January.
