NWS Investigators to Seek Tornado Rulings

(Toledo, OH) National Weather Service investigators will visit northwest Ohio today to determine whether tornadoes were to blame for widespread storm damage.

Powerful winds and heavy rain blasted the region Sunday, causing extensive damage in Findlay, Wauseon and Tiffin.  A Sandusky County home was leveled by high winds, but no injuries were reported.

Residents of a Findlay neighborhood are waking up in an emergency shelter after Sunday 's storm.  City officials say the Highland Estates apartment complex was evacuated when gas leaks were reported after the apparent tornado.  The Findlay schools are closed today because of the widespread damage, including some at the high school.

A four-year-old Wauseon girl remains hospitalized after touching a live power line.  Firefighters say the girl came in contact with the downed wire Sunday outside her family's home. She's expected to be okay. Wauseon police have asked residents to stay indoors while city workers and Toledo Edison crews clear debris and restore power.
