Suburbs to Study Possible Wood Co. Sports Complex

(Perrysburg, OH) Some suburban communities are banding together to look into building a sports complex.

Rossford, Perrysburg, Maumee and Wood County officials all are funding a study to see if an indoor/outdoor sports facility could be a regional draw for Northwest Ohio. The model for the project is a 400-acre sportsplex with 30-plus athletic fields in suburban Indianapolis.

The $60,000 feasibility study will look at a lot of things, including the best location in Wood County for the sports complex. Local officials believe thousands of people would be draw on weekends to various tournaments because of the location's proximity to the region's interstate system.

But there's already a big sports complex recently built in Sandusky that could provide plenty of competition for those tournaments.
