(Toledo, OH) The state highway patrol is pushing seat belt use across Ohio this month.
The Ohio Highway Patrol reports more than 1,100 Ohioans were killed in crashes because they were not wearing their seatbelts during a three-year period ending in 2016. Meantime, the National Traffic Safety Administration estimates that over 400 lives were saved in Ohio last year because people buckled up.
Troopers plan to continue zero tolerance enforcement of Ohio’s safety belt law during the month of November, even though last year's observational seat belt survey found 83 percent compliance among Ohio's drivers, nearly identical to the 2015 survey.
