Ohio House Blocks Down Syndrome Abortions

(Columbus, OH)    Aborting unborn children with Down syndrome could soon be illegal in Ohio.

The Ohio House passed a bill Wednesday blocking such procedures and making doctors who perform them subject to felony charges.  Toledo Democrat Teresa Fedor was gaveled down during debate, told to keep debate "germane to the bill" when she began talking about "sexual harrassment in the 21st century" and a "rape culture" in Ohio.

Republican lawmakers also opened debate Wednesday on a rebooted "Heartbeat Bill" which would ban abortions after the first fetal heartbeat. The bill now heads to the Ohio Senate.
