(Columbus, OH) About one in 14 adult Ohioans now has a license to pack hidden heat.

The Buckeye Firearms Association estimates more than 627,000 Ohioans now have a license to to carry a concealed handgun.

Recent shootings and terror attacks may have prompted a record number of Ohio residents-- more than 22,000-- to get a conceal-carry license between April and June.

The Buckeye Firearms Association believes about 7 percent of Ohio adults now have a concealed-carry license, the group's president calling it "mainstream and common sense" these days, likening it to wearing a seat belt to protect themselves.
