Yahya Farooq Mohammad already pleaded guilty last summer to supporting terrorism and trying to arrange the killing of a federal judge in Toledo overseeing his case. But now his attorney is trying to get his potential sentence reduced.
Court documents show an inmate faking an interest in converting to Islam concocted a scheme against the judge, by telling Mohammed Judge Jack Zouhary had a role in the detention of Muslim men in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. S
o while in behind bars, Mohammad paid a hitman in an attempt to kill the judge and talked about how he wanted him kidnapped to make sure his body was never found.
Mohammad struck a plea deal to spend 27 years in prison. Trial could mean a life sentence.
