Toledo Zoo Euthanizes White Rhinoceros

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Zoo has lost a long-time resident.

WTOL 11 reports Sam, a white rhinoceros, was humanely euthanized this week due to failing health. The 44-year-old animal was being treated for multiple health issues before Zoo veterinarians determined that the rhino's health would not improve.

Sam came to the Toledo Zoo in 1988 from the Philadelphia Zoo. The Toledo Zoo says they plan on bringing another rhino to the facility in the near future.
