Port Authority to Issue Energy-Efficiency Bonds

(Toledo, OH) The port authority may approve a big bond issue for future projects.

The Northwest Ohio Advanced Energy Improvement Corporation is requesting the port authority board to approve a $9 million bond issue to fund future energy efficiency improvements and alternative energy projects. But there's no word on what some of those projects may be, but will be involved in the port authority's Better Buildings Northwest Ohio program.

This would be at least the third bond issuance to fund such projects. The program started back in 2012.

The district allows energy efficiency improvements to be funded and paid for through property special assessments. Financing is structured so that the energy savings will cover the cost of the improvements.
