(Jerusalem Twp., OH) Ohio's governor is making a Lucas County stop to get a look at a future Metropark.
Governor John Kasich will be among the state and federal officials getting an advance look at the Toledo Metroparks largest undertaking to date-- a 1,000 acre wetland along Lake Erie known as Howard Marsh in Jerusalem Township. The latest metropark will open next spring.
The $16.5 million spent in land acquisition and restoration is a combination of local, state, and federal funding.
The project is the largest wetland restoration currently underway on the Great Lakes, which will filter stormwater of pollutants before reaching the lake and serve as another popular destination for migrating songbirds and the people who come from around the world watch them.
