(Toledo, OH) Toledo city officials are expressing confidence in their bid for Amazon's second headquarters.
Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson unveiled Toledo's bid Thursday after the online retailer's deadline. Toledo is offering the former Southwyck Mall site or land near Fallen Timbers in Maumee as a secondary site Tax incentives worth nearly $800 million are also in the package, as well as the promise of a strong workforce.
The city Amazon chooses for the "HQ2" will get a $5 billioninvestment and 50,000 highly-paid workers.
Maumee city officials submitted a separate bid for Amazon H-Q-2 through JobsOhio, also offering the 500-acre site near Fallen Timbers Mall. But their proposal cuts out Toledo, except for an already-existing tax-sharing agreement on the income taxes that would be generated.
