Community Groups Host Opiate Epidemic Discussion

(Toledo, OH) Community groups are partnering on a special opiate addiction seminar tonight.

The downtown Toledo library is hosting a panel discussion on the latest efforts to fight heroin and prescription pain pill addiction locally. The Lucas County sheriff, health commissioner, and a member of the governor’s opiate action team are among the panelists who will discuss what’s going on as the opiate epidemic continues to expand locally and across the state.

The event also will feature the Toledo police department’s portable drug take-back program, where attendees can safely dispose of unwanted or expired prescription pills, capsules, and tablets.

An information and resource fair starts at 5:30 p.m., with the forum to follow an hour later.
