Fish Feeding Frenzy on Lake Erie

(Toledo, OH) Fishermen are seeing a feeding frenzy  on Lake Erie.

Yellow perch are biting big-time in the western lake basin, October the best time of the year for anglers to target them. The Ohio Division of Wildlife says female perch are feeding for winter so they can spawn in the spring, meaning yellow perch are more likely to take a bait or lure.

Finding them can be a hit-or-miss process—but may be like hitting the lottery once you do. There are yellow perch in big numbers off Catawba, Marblehead, and just across the border near Luna Pier, according to boat captains.

There are daily catch limits, though 30 perch per angle in Ohio, 50 in Michigan.
