(Northwood, OH) There's a new tool available to help prevent wastewater runoff into Lake Erie.
The Northwestern Water and Sewer District opened its new wastewater storage basin Tuesday in Northwood. The nearly $6 million tank can hold two-million-gallons of storm and sewer overflows after heavy rains.
District officials say the wastewater is held until treatment plants can catch up and flush clean water into the lake.
