Ohio Lawmaker Proposes School Deregulation Bill

(Columbus, OH)    A state lawmaker from northwest Ohio wants to deregulate public schools.

Senator Matt Huffman unveiled Senate Bill 216 Tuesday, a measure that would strip nearly 100 regulations, including standardized testing and teacher evaluations. A team of local school superintendents made recommendations for the bill, which aims to return control to local school districts.

The Lima Republican's bill has the support of several superintendents, who claim the measures cost too much money and negatively affect students.
