(Toledo, OH) A campaign is underway to help reduce Lucas County's infant mortality rate.
Dozens of volunteers stuffed bags with sleep sacks, diapers and other items Thursday for the "Bags for Babies" program. Expectant mothers in at-risk situations will receive the bags, along with resources to help their baby reach their first birthday.
The program follows a recent Toledo-Lucas County Health Department report showing eight out of one-thousand babies died within their first year because of premature birth, unsafe sleeping or birth defects.
