(Toledo, OH) Metroparks-Toledo is adding to its land holdings in the Oak Openings Corridor.
The Metroparks-Toledo board is expected to approve the purchase of nearly 32 acres of land south of Toledo Express airport using an Ohio EPA grant. The property purchase will cost $351,000, with the aim of preserving existing wetlands. An abandoned saw mill on the site will be demolished.
The land has mature forest wetlands and small swamps that will be preserved.
But the Metroparks could later add boardwalks and foot trails in the future, as the park system tries to tie together Oak Openings and Secor Metroparks for hikers and bikers.
