(Sylvania, OH) Campaigning is about to get underway for a pair of park levies on the November ballot.
The Olander Park System in Sylvania is seeking a five-year property tax levy for operations that should have been on the ballot last year, but a paperwork snafu cost the park district a year's worth of funding that led to layoffs salary slashing, and budget cuts. So the park system is seeking support from Sylvania and Sylvania Township residents for Issue 11, a levy that would raise just over $1 million each year.
At the same time, Lucas County voters will decide a ten-year renewal levy for the Metroparks. Issue 12 is a property tax levy would generate an estimated $10 million annually for operations and land purchases.
