Sylvania Developer Proposes Third Housing Attempt

(Sylvania Twp., OH) A developer will try a third time to satisfy neighbors on a proposed housing complex in Sylvania Township.

McCarthy Builders is hoping the third time is a charm when going back to the drawing board for Addison Place, a planned unit development with 66 rental villas to be located behind the Central Avenue Lowe's home improvement store.

The local developer is seeking a zoning change from the Lucas County plan commission, which had approved a senior apartment complex last year. But that proposal was shot down by Sylvania township trustees over concerns by nearby residents over housing density and too much traffic.

The construction company withdrew a second proposal earlier his year for a multi-family housing complex over the same objections. This latest proposal cuts the number of living units in half from the first design.
