(Toledo, OH) Toledo city council tonight will consider legislation that would pay back more than $200,000 to the federal government in misused Community Development Block Grant funding.
A federal audit found the city’s neighborhoods department misused the stimulus funding during a program to replace roofs for needy Toledo homeowners.
Toledo’s top brass negotiated the final total down about a half-a-million dollars from the feds original finding. The city's interim neighborhoods director has told city council new financial controls are now in place to prevent future mistakes.
