COLUMBUS, Ohio - Disaster recovery is at the center of a bill that's just passed in the Ohio House.
The Disaster Relief Act has gotten support from the Ohio House of Representatives. House Bill 133 places tax exemptions on some companies doing business here in the event of a major emergency. State Representative Scott Ryan (R-Granville Township) introduced it.
"It is consistent with the ideals of the Buckeye Pathway, and in the rare event of a declared disaster by either the President or the Governor. The last time that occurred in Ohio was 2013, so it is a rare event," Ryan says.
Ryan says 27 other states have already adopted similar legislation.
