"Last Call Bell" Dedicated at 9/11 Ceremony

(Sylvania, OH) Toledo Memorial Park finishes a community bell-casting this morning to mark 9/11.

The Last Call Bell will be dedicated and rung for the first time at nine this morning at Sylvania's annual September 11th rememberance ceremony. The bell is being added to the cemetery's 9-11 First Responders Last Call Memorial, which includes a 13,000 pound beam from the World Trade Center.

The last-call bell was cast from a foundry on wheels during a special series of events over the weekend, following an $80,000 public fundraising effort.

The ringing of the last-call bell is a 200-plus-year tradition at firefighter funerals, signaling the firefighter killed in the line of duty has come home for the final time.
