Ohio Governor Signs "Judy's Law"

(Columbus, OH)  "Judy's Law" will soon take effect in Ohio.

Governor John Kasich signed the measure into law Thursday, tacking an extra six years in prison onto any one who uses an accelerant to permanently disfigure their victim.

The measure is named for Judy Malinowski, the New Albany mother whose ex-boyfriend doused her with gasoline and set her on fire in 2015.

Michael Slager is serving an 11-year prison sentence, but prosecutors are considering murder charges after her death in June.
