(Toledo, OH) Toledo's entire police force soon will be outfitted with body cameras.
Street officers will wear a next-generation camera, one wear microphones cannot be muted or the footage deleted. More than 300 body cameras will be added to standard-issue equipment over the next few weeks, after testing a similar model with 50 officers back in 2015. At the end of an officer's shift, all the video recorded will be automatically downloaded.
The $350,000 cost came from the city's capital improvement fund and a federal Justice Department grant.
